Moving into a new apartment is always exciting. A new place to start over and make fresh. This summer I was in between living situations while waiting for my new roommates previous lease to be up in August. My previous roommate is set to get married next weekend so when our lease was up in May I moved to my aunts. All summer I anticipated a new place and decorating. The summer flew by and this past weekend my best friend and I moved into our new home!
My vision for our apartment was to keep the decor modern, simple, sophisticated and trendy. I wanted our home to be a place of positivity and to me that meant light and bright.
Would you believe me if I told you those turquoise chairs used to be pink velvet?! My grandma gave them to me when I moved to DFW after college and my mom re-covered them with cute turquoise fabric to bring my vision to life. My mom is great at decorating and a lot of what you’ll see in these pictures wouldn’t have been possible without her help. My favorite part of this room is the couch and the fireplace. I feel like it adds a little something extra to the room. Plus, you don’t really see fireplaces in apartments these days.
Next was my bedroom. All summer I looked at decor inspiration of what I wanted my room to look like. I wanted to change a large amount of how I decorated my room in past apartments and I believe I brought my vision to life.
I again kept things simple and bright with white and gold accents. My nightstand was passed down by my grandma and was previously a yellow cream color. To stick with my theme I decided to paint it white and I love how it turned out! I added some cute nobs I found at Anthropology to tie in the gold and turquoise accents. This was my first attempt at painting furniture and I was quite impressed with myself. I also tried to stay on trend with this cute lamp from Target and the decor over my bed from Hobby Lobby.
My last additions to my room that I am OBSESSED with is this bench from Wayfair.com and my very large mirror from Home Goods. I bought both at bargain prices and am so happy I was able to find these pieces that add something extra to the room. I can promise you I will find Maggz hanging out on this bench either watching out the window or taking a little nap.
I still have a few more things I want to do before the apartment is complete but I am already in love with how everything turned out. This year living here with one of my best friends is going to be so fun and I cannot wait to see what is to come.
